About Us

1st Normanton Scout Group is a group within Normanton. We are part of the Pontefract and Castleford District and under Central Yorkshire Scouts. We have been providing adventure for over 100 years.

Scouting proved fun, new experiences and challenging activities for those aged 6+. We provide a chance to help within the local community.

What are Scouts?

Scouts take part in a range of activities from water activities, to camping and sleepovers, day trips, oversees expeditions, climbing, photography, craft activities, and first aid.

Scouting is a way to make new friends and express themselves while learning more about the wider community and the world around them.

What do volunteers do?

Scouting is only possible with the help of our adult volunteers who make up our leadership team and executive committee. All our volunteers have to undertake a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check.

Our volunteers support the group in numerous ways from planning sessions and events to running them and our tea makers and camp helpers.

All adults are provided with training appropriate to their role and can gain new opportunities.

The Scout association provides a training scheme meaning adult volunteers can get the most out of their role and time in Scouting.
